I would drive by this field every day after work– then one day there was this misty green haze over the soil!

The Old Oak Tree

by Julie Ann Biddle

Colored Pencil

I both love and am frustrated by the way we Hoosiers use landmarks to give directions…even after the particular house or farm has changed hands or the gigantic oak has succumbed to old age, weather, and/or lightening strikes. This tree reminds me of the one I knew when I was learning how to drive.

A Look Through Grandpa’s Tool Shed

Oil Pastel
(8.75” x 10.75”) $50
(8”x 10” unframed) $40

This is a window into my Grandfather’s tool shed—a building that has been repainted so many times over the years that the paint has created a texture all its own!

I drew this from a photo I had taken a long, long time ago (with actual film!) So long ago I don’t remember where this tree even stood. But what a character!

Neocolor II Water-soluble crayon, graphite

I love solitary trees that stand out in the fields keeping watch. I always wonder what might call those branches home….
